New Models: Abarth 695 70? Anniversario arrives with adjustable spoiler

Just last month we got a look at Abarth’s 595 Pista. This month, the Italian brand is treating us to a hot hatch that celebrates its 70-year long heritage. Dubbed the 695 70° Anniversario, the little hot hatch packs a unique paint job and a nifty adjustable spoiler.

The green paint used here is representative of the first 500 Abarth that set six international records at Monza in 1958. This is contrasted by the Campovolo grey accents on the wheel arches, side skirts, front lip, door mirror, Scorpion logo on the bonnet, flag graphic on the roof and spoiler on the hatch.

The spoiler of this special edition is the main talking point as it is manually adjustable to 12 positions between ranges of 0° to 60°. At the maximum setting, this spoiler increases the aerodynamic load by up to 42 kg at 200 km/h which Abarth claims to reduce steering corrections by almost 40 percent.

Under the bonnet sits FCA’s 1,4-litre four-cylinder turbopetrol engine pushing 132 kW and 230 N.m of torque (250 N.m with the overboost function at 3 000 r/min). This gives it a 0-100 km/h time of 6,7 seconds and a top speed of 225 km/h with the spoiler set to 0°.

Paying tribute to the brand’s year of origin, only 1 949 units will be put together. A plaque indicating the build number will be placed in the cabin.
