At the end of 2018, German firm Manhart Performance revealed a rendering of its BMW M850i coupé-based MH8 600 grand tourer. Now the company has lifted the wraps off the real deal, which sports lowered suspension and larger wheels … and packs M8 Competition-beating power.
As the “600” in its name suggests, the modified M850i (seen here wearing the tuner’s signature gold-coloured decals) produces plenty of horsepower (621, to be exact). This figure translates to a whopping 463 kW … and that’s 3 kW than the halo M8 Competition churns out (as well as 22 kW more than the standard M8).
In addition, the standard 4,4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine has been injected with an extra 100 N.m of torque. The Manhart-tuned M850i thus sends 850 N.m to all four corners via the Bavarian automaker’s clever (rear-biased) M xDrive four-wheel-drive system.
Further mechanical upgrades include the addition of an H&R lowering kit, which reduces ground clearance by 30 mm. Now riding closer to the tarmac, the MH8 600 is equipped with bespoke matte black 21-inch “Concave” alloys wrapped in Continental SportContact 6 rubber.
The exterior features an array of carbon-fibre items, such as the front splitter and boot-mounted spoiler. Furthermore, a section of the rear bumper is fabricated from the light-weight material. As a finishing touch, Manhart badges replace the BMW items placed atop the hood and at the rear.
